Family in Life-Threatening Situation

NEED:

This request for financial assistance is for a family in a life-threatening situation for basic survival, worsened by the misery of a severe medical condition due to a recent accident.

Immediate help is required to save the life of Biji, a young woman admitted in the ICU due to life threatening burn injuries as well as for the survival needs of her family.

Biji and her two sisters, Gibi and Geena, are from a very poor family based in Ernakulam, Kerala. They lost their father 18 years ago and are survived by their mother, Giji Baby, who has been struggling to raise her children due to her continuous ill-health, and hence no regular means of livelihood. Biji, the second one among three sisters, recently suffered severe burn injuries from her arm down to her stomach during a recent accident while lighting a gas stove. Biji underwent life-saving emergency treatment and surgeries and is admitted to the ICU in Medical Trust Hospital, Ernakulam, due to her critical condition. 

The daily hospital bill amounts to approximately Rs.18,000. This is over and above the daily survival needs of the family who have no stable income, no financial resources or assets such as land or property, and no relatives who can help. The family has been pushed further into poverty and an extremely emotionally stressful situation, with their daily survival under threat.
